Program
for Minors
In order for a minor to have an abortion in Massachusetts, she
needs the consent of one parent or her legal guardian or she must
go to court and obtain the approval of a judge. If the patient
has parental consent, the parent must bring their own photo identification
and patient's FULL birth certificate - listing the parent and
the patient's full names at the time of her appointment.
Women's Health Services has a program for minors who opt to go through
the court process for judicial consent.
This process involves a detailed interview with the minor to determine
her maturity level, her family and home status, her support system, and
her goals for her future.
After the interview, WHS will put the minor in touch with an attorney,
who will counsel her and accompany her through the court process
for final approval.
There is no cost to the minor for this service.
