Pre-Op Instructions

When you call our office for an appointment, we will be able to answer any questions you might have regarding your procedure.

The things we will want you to remember are:

1. You cannot have anything to eat drink or smoke after midnight the night before your procedure. This includes water, gum, candy cough drops, and cigarettes. You may brush your teeth, but spit the water out. If you forget this and have even a sip of water, a piece of gum, or a cigarette, you will be rescheduled!

2. If you are choosing IV anesthesia, you must have a ride home and your driver must arrive with you and sign that he/she is driving you home in order to receive anesthesia. You may not drive or take public transportation after anesthesia. If you choose to take a taxi cab home, you will need an adult escort.

3. You will be at Women's Health Service for 2 1/2
to 3 hours. Some of that time may be waiting, so you may want to bring a book.

4. Dress comfortably and wear underwear that can support a pad. (no thongs)

5. You may have one person accompany you, but we ask that you not bring any children into the office.

6. Women's Health Service does have a security guard present.

7. Minors must have the consent of at least one parent or a court order to obtain an abortion. Parents must bring photo identification and the minor's full birth certificate.

8. All patients are required to provide photo identification.
